It's our 19th anniversary!

Who invented the bitcoin?

The cryptocurrency appeared nearly 10 years ago, but to this day, no one is sure who invented it. Whether it was a person or a group of people that created it, it's all hidden behind the pseudonym "Satoshi Nakamoto". Cryptographers received a document from this alias in 2008, which provided a description of the digital currency. Satoshi Nakamoto was active in the development of bitcoin up until the end of 2010, when they announced that they would be moving on to other capacities and disappeared from the developer community.

Many journalists and curious punters alike have tried to find out the identity of the person or people behind the pseudonym. Researchers believe that a large amount of "early" bitcoins, around a million, are owned by Satoshi Nakamoto.
