The 11th rendition of Russia's "Person of the Year" awards took place on February 28, 2012, in Moscow's President-Hotel. Alpari founder and first president Gleb Petrov's work in bringing full regulation to the Forex industry in Russia was recognized by the committee — Mr. Petrov was the recipient of this prestigious award in the nomination "For Developing A Conception for the Regulation of Forex in Russia."
"I would like to thank my colleagues from Alpari, other companies in the industry as well as the organization CRFIN (Center for the Regulation of Financial Instruments) for their collaborative work in developing the conception. This honor belongs to all of us. I would also like to thank Anatoliy Grigorevich Gavrilenko for his generosity and words of wisdom, which have been a big help to us", commented Mr. Petrov at the awards ceremony.
First handed out in 2001, the "Person of the Year" awards have continued to be a prestigious recognition of individuals who have made many of the most significant contributions to Russia's financial and political sectors.
Winners are determined by an expert committee consisting of widely recognized authoritative figures in the Russian business and political world. This year's panel included Constitutional Court lawyer Mikhail Barshchevsky, businessman Viktor Vekselberg and economist and Assistant to the President of the RF Arkady Dvorkovich.
