    3. Week Ahead: Will the Fed reinforce the higher-for-longer narrative?

The Federal Reserve will take centre stage next week as investors look for fresh guidance on the outlook for US interest rates, inflation and economic growth. While the Fed is widely expected to leave rates unchanged, markets will closely scrutinize the policy statement, updated economic assessment and Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference for clues on the next move.

The meeting comes at a time when inflation remains above the Fed's target despite signs of resilient economic growth and a still-solid labour market. Any indication that policymakers remain cautious about declaring victory over inflation could reinforce expectations that interest rates will stay higher for longer, providing fresh support for the US dollar.

Attention will then quickly shift to Thursday's US GDP and Core PCE reports, which could either reinforce or challenge the Fed's message and shape expectations for monetary policy through the remainder of the year.

Our focus this week will be on Alpari's USDInd, which may be preparing for a larger breakout move as markets react to the Fed's policy signals.

Fed decision and US inflation in focus

Markets will closely monitor the Federal Reserve's policy meeting next week, alongside key US economic data that could reshape expectations for interest rates. Investors will also watch GDP and inflation releases from Europe and Japan's central bank decision for fresh clues on the global economic outlook.

Monday, July 27th: US Durable Goods Orders

Durable goods orders will provide an update on business investment and manufacturing activity, offering an early indication of the strength of the US economy.

Wednesday, July 29th: Federal Reserve Rate Decision and Press Conference

The Fed is widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged. Investors will focus on policymakers' assessment of inflation and economic conditions, while Chair Kevin Warsh's comments could provide important clues on the outlook for future policy.

Thursday, July 30th: Eurozone GDP and German CPI

Economic growth and inflation data from the Eurozone will help investors assess the region's economic momentum and expectations for future ECB policy.

Thursday, July 30th: US GDP, Core PCE and Personal Spending

A combination of second-quarter GDP, the Fed's preferred inflation gauge and consumer spending data will provide a comprehensive update on the US economy and could significantly influence expectations for future Fed policy.

Friday, July 31st: Bank of Japan Rate Decision

The Bank of Japan is expected to leave interest rates unchanged. Markets will monitor the accompanying statement for any signals on the pace of future policy normalization.
